  1. A terrapin is a member of some species of the 
  2. order Chelonia (turtles and tortoises). 
  3. Terrapins are small to medium-sized, aquatic 
  4. or semi-aquatic, and are found widely in 
  5. temperate zones. They are omnivorous, but 
  6. generally eat aquatic animals. Some species 
  7. are in danger of extinction owing to 
  8. collection for the pet trade.
